South London Academy Seeks 2ic in French (Full-Time, Permanent - September

We are actively seeking a highly motivated and qualified Second in French (2ic) to join our vibrant MFL team, starting in September. This permanent, full-time position offers an exceptional opportunity for a dedicated leader to contribute significantly to the development and success of our French program.
Responsibilities:
- Support the Head of MFL in providing strategic leadership and direction for the department, ensuring alignment with the academy's overall vision.
- Contribute to the planning, delivery, and assessment of a high-quality French curriculum across all year groups (potentially KS3, KS4 and/or KS5).
- Lead and mentor a team of dedicated French teachers, providing ongoing coaching, professional development, and support.
- Foster a stimulating learning environment that promotes a love of the French language and culture, encouraging students to develop fluency and confidence.
- Play a key role in curriculum development, ensuring it aligns with national standards and best practices in French language teaching.
- Contribute to the recruitment, selection, and performance management of French teachers.
- Actively participate in the wider academy community, collaborating with colleagues across different departments.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) with a specialism in French.
- A minimum of 5 years' successful teaching experience in a secondary school setting, with demonstrably strong leadership qualities.
- Excellent subject knowledge and a proven track record of raising standards in French.
- Strong strategic vision and the ability to translate this vision into a successful departmental plan.
- Exceptional leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire a team.
- A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
