About the Role:
- Lead and manage a thriving Music department, fostering a love of music amongst students of all abilities (KS3 – KS5).
- Develop and implement a comprehensive, engaging, and challenging Music curriculum aligned with the National Curriculum.
- Oversee classroom instruction, ensuring effective delivery of Music lessons across all key stages.
- Provide ongoing professional development and support to Music teachers within the department.
- Lead and manage a variety of extracurricular musical activities, including school ensembles, choirs, and musical productions.
- Contribute to the school's wider cultural enrichment program.
- Foster strong relationships with students, parents, and colleagues, creating a positive and inclusive learning environment.
Essential Skills and Experience:
- Qualified Music Teacher (PGCE or equivalent) with demonstrably successful experience.
- A proven track record of leading and managing a Music department within a secondary school setting.
- Excellent pedagogical skills with the ability to create innovative and engaging Music lessons.
- A strong understanding of the National Curriculum for Music and the ability to translate it into effective classroom practice.
- Experience in leading and managing extracurricular musical activities.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills.
- A passion for Music education and a commitment to inspiring a lifelong love of music in students.
