About the Role:
This is a pivotal role leading a dynamic team of Geography teachers across Key Stages. You will play a key role in shaping the curriculum, ensuring exceptional teaching and learning, and inspiring a lifelong passion for Geography in our students.
Key Responsibilities:

Curriculum Leadership:
- Oversee the development and implementation of a stimulating and challenging Geography curriculum across Key Stage 3 (Years 7-8) and potentially Key Stage 4 (Years 9-11), aligning with the National Curriculum.
- Stay abreast of current trends and best practices in Geography education, implementing innovative approaches to enhance student learning (e.g., fieldwork opportunities, technology integration).
- Lead departmental meetings to discuss curriculum development, share best practices, and ensure consistency across Key Stages.

Teaching and Learning:
- Demonstrate strong pedagogical skills in Geography, potentially contributing to the teaching of GCSE and/or A-Level Geography.
- Mentor and support other Geography teachers within the department, fostering a collaborative learning environment.
- Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of the Geography curriculum, making data-driven decisions for improvement.

Student Progress:
- Analyze student progress data and identify areas for improvement across Key Stages.
- Develop and implement strategies to support the progress of all students, including those with SEND needs.
- Liaise with other departments to ensure a cohesive approach to cross-curricular learning opportunities.

External Relations:
- Represent the Geography department at school events and liaise with external stakeholders.
- Oversee and manage the department budget for resources and equipment.
The Ideal Candidate:
- A qualified Geography teacher with a minimum of 5 years' experience, demonstrably successful in leading and motivating a team.
- Excellent subject knowledge and a passion for inspiring a love of Geography in students of all abilities.
- Proven leadership skills with a strong track record of curriculum development and innovation in Geography education.
- A commitment to high standards and the ability to create a stimulating and supportive learning environment.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and collaboration skills.
- A willingness to be part of a dynamic school and contribute to its ongoing success.
