About the Role:
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Key Stage Co-ordinator (KSC) to lead and inspire our dedicated Geography team. This is a crucial leadership role within the department, playing a pivotal part in shaping and delivering an engaging and stimulating Geography curriculum across Key Stages 3 and 4 (Years 7-11).
Key Responsibilities:

Curriculum Leadership and Development:
- Oversee the ongoing development of the Geography curriculum, ensuring it aligns with the National Curriculum, best pedagogical practices, and the school's vision for Geography education.
- Identify and implement innovative teaching and learning strategies to enhance student engagement and geographical understanding.
- Lead the department in curriculum planning, assessment strategies, and resource development.
- Stay abreast of current trends and developments in Geography education, seeking opportunities for continuous improvement.

Teaching and Learning:
- Maintain a strong personal commitment to high-quality teaching, potentially teaching a full timetable of Geography lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4.
- Champion innovative and engaging teaching methods to inspire a love of Geography in all students.
- Foster a collaborative and supportive learning environment within the department, promoting best practices and peer learning amongst colleagues.

Data Analysis and Assessment:
- Analyze student progress data to identify areas of strength and weakness within the Geography curriculum.
- Implement effective assessment strategies to monitor student learning and inform teaching approaches.
- Lead the department in setting and marking examinations, ensuring consistent and rigorous assessment practices.

Staff Development and Pastoral Care:
- Provide guidance and support to Geography teachers within the department, promoting professional development opportunities.
- Foster a positive and collaborative team spirit within the Geography department.
The Ideal Candidate:
- A qualified Geography teacher with a minimum of 5 years' experience, demonstrably successful in leading and motivating a team.
- An outstanding subject knowledge and a passion for inspiring a love of Geography in students of all abilities.
- Proven experience in curriculum development and leadership within a secondary school setting.
- Excellent pedagogical skills, with a strong track record of delivering engaging and effective Geography lessons.
- A commitment to high standards and the ability to create a stimulating and supportive learning environment.
