About the Role:

This is an exciting opportunity for a dedicated and experienced English Teacher to play a pivotal role in shaping the next generation of confident and articulate communicators. You will be responsible for delivering a stimulating and challenging English curriculum across Key Stage 3, 4, and 5.

Key Responsibilities:

• Curriculum Delivery:
  • Develop and deliver engaging and stimulating English lessons that foster a love of literature, language learning, and critical thinking.
  • Utilize a variety of innovative teaching methods and resources to cater to diverse learning styles and ensure all students reach their full potential.
  • Effectively integrate the National Curriculum requirements with a focus on developing students' reading, writing, speaking and listening skills.
  • Prepare students for GCSE examinations (English Language and Literature) and support them in achieving their academic goals.
• Assessment and Feedback:
  • Design and implement effective assessment strategies to monitor student progress and inform teaching and learning.
  • Provide constructive and timely feedback that helps students improve their understanding and skills.
• Collaboration and Professional Development:
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues within the English Faculty to share best practices and develop the curriculum.
  • Engage in ongoing professional development to stay abreast of current trends in English pedagogy.
• Extracurricular Activities:
  • Contribute to and potentially lead enrichment activities related to English (e.g., book clubs, creative writing workshops, Shakespeare performances).
  • Foster a love of learning and encourage student participation in literary events and competitions.

The Ideal Candidate:

• A qualified English Teacher with a minimum of 3 years' successful teaching experience 
• A demonstrable track record of raising student achievement in English Language and Literature.
• Excellent subject knowledge and a passion for literature, language, and effective communication.
• Strong pedagogical skills and the ability to deliver engaging and interactive lessons that cater to diverse learning needs.
• A commitment to high standards and creating a positive and supportive learning environment.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and collaboration skills.
• A willingness to contribute to the school's wider enrichment activities.
