About the Role:
- Provide strong and visible leadership for the History department, setting the strategic direction and ensuring a positive and productive learning environment for both staff and students.
- Lead the development and implementation of a stimulating and challenging History curriculum across all year groups.
- Motivate and inspire a team of talented History teachers, fostering a culture of collaboration and professional growth.
- Play a key role in the recruitment, development, and performance management of the History department staff.
- Contribute to the wider leadership team of the school, supporting the overall vision and educational goals.
- Foster a love of History and encourage students to develop critical thinking, research, and communication skills.
- Oversee the effective use of resources and facilities to enhance the History learning experience.
- Develop strong relationships with parents and the wider school community.
The Ideal Candidate:
- A qualified History Teacher with a minimum of 5 years' successful teaching experience, including significant leadership experience within a secondary school setting (preferably independent schools).
- A proven track record of raising standards and improving student outcomes in History.
- Excellent subject knowledge and a passion for innovative teaching methods that bring History to life.
- Strong leadership and management skills with the ability to motivate and inspire colleagues.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and collaboration skills.
- The ability to build strong relationships with students, parents, and staff.
- A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the well-being of students.
