Our firm is conducting a confidential search for an exceptional Head of English to lead and inspire a dynamic English department at a highly regarded secondary school in Southampton. This is an exciting opportunity for an accomplished educator to shape the future of English language and literature education, commencing in September.

Leadership Responsibilities:

• Strategic Vision: Develop and implement a clear and ambitious vision for the English department, aligned with the school's overall educational goals.
• Curriculum Development: Oversee the design and delivery of a rigorous and engaging English curriculum for Key Stages 3, 4, and 5, fostering a love of language and literature.
• Team Management: Lead, mentor, and inspire a team of dedicated English teachers, fostering a collaborative and supportive departmental culture.
• Assessment & Evaluation: Implement effective assessment strategies to monitor student progress and inform instructional practices.
• Innovation & Improvement: Stay abreast of the latest pedagogical approaches and curriculum developments, championing innovation in teaching and learning.
• Communication & Collaboration: Build strong relationships with students, parents, colleagues, and other stakeholders, fostering open communication and collaboration.

Qualifications and Experience:

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent teaching certification.
• Proven track record of successful leadership in an English department or similar role.
• Demonstrated expertise in English language and literature pedagogy and assessment.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
• Passion for fostering a love of language and literature in young people.
