The Role
We are pleased to present an outstanding opportunity for a dedicated and experienced Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCo) to join a leading secondary school in Islington. This full-time, permanent position commences in September and offers a unique platform to shape and enhance the school's SEN provision.
Key Responsibilities
- Strategically lead and manage the school's Special Educational Needs (SEN) department.
- Ensure the effective identification, assessment, and support of students with SEN.
- Develop and implement Individual Education Plans (IEPs) in collaboration with teachers, parents, and external professionals.
- Oversee the provision of appropriate interventions and support for students with SEN.
- Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment for all students.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of student progress and interventions.
- Build strong relationships with parents/carers and external agencies.
- Stay informed of current SEN legislation and best practices.
Qualifications and Experience
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
- National Award for SEN Coordination (NASENCo) or willingness to undertake this qualification.
- Proven experience as a SENCo or in a similar role within a secondary school setting.
- In-depth knowledge of SEN legislation and frameworks.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
