Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage the SEN department, ensuring effective implementation of the school's SEN policy and procedures.
- Oversee the development, review, and management of Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) for students with special educational needs.
- Manage and support a dedicated team of SEN support staff, providing guidance and training to enhance their effectiveness in delivering tailored support.
- Collaborate with parents, teachers, and external agencies to ensure a coordinated approach to supporting students with SEN, facilitating regular meetings and communication channels.
- Monitor and evaluate the progress of students with SEN, using data to inform interventions and adjustments to support strategies.
- Lead on training and development opportunities for staff, raising awareness of SEN issues and promoting best practices in inclusive education.
- Advocate for the needs of students with SEN within the wider school community, ensuring their voices are heard and considered in decision-making processes.
- Stay updated with current legislation, guidelines, and best practices related to SEN and inclusion, ensuring compliance and alignment with national standards.
Qualifications:
- A recognised SENCO qualification is required, demonstrating your expertise in the field.
- Proven leadership experience within SEN settings, with a track record of improving outcomes for students with special educational needs.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build effective relationships with students, staff, and external stakeholders.
- A commitment to professional development and a passion for fostering an inclusive learning environment for all students.
- A clear DBS check is required to ensure the safety and welfare of all students.
