About the Role:
This is an exciting opportunity to play a pivotal role in shaping the future success of our students. You will be responsible for delivering engaging and stimulating Biology lessons, inspiring a passion for the subject, and preparing students for their exams. The TLR (Teaching and Learning Responsibility) allowance acknowledges an additional responsibility for leading or coordinating a specific area within the Biology curriculum or department.
Key Responsibilities:
- Curriculum Delivery:
- Plan, deliver, and evaluate engaging and stimulating Biology lessons across the curriculum, catering to Key Stage 3 (Years 7-8) and Key Stage 4 (Years 9-11) in line with the National Curriculum.
- Utilize a variety of teaching methods to cater to diverse learning styles and ensure all students can develop their scientific knowledge and skills effectively (practical work, problem-solving, critical thinking).
- Curriculum Development:
- Contribute to the ongoing development of the Biology curriculum, ensuring it aligns with the school's vision, national requirements, and the latest advancements in Biology education.
- Stay abreast of current trends and best practices in teaching Biology, implementing innovative approaches to enhance student learning (e.g., technology integration, inquiry-based learning).
- Assessment and Evaluation:
- Design and implement effective assessment strategies to monitor student progress in biological knowledge and skills (formative and summative assessments).
